Post modernism is the old, the new, un oringinal and origional. It happened in the 1900's when modern developed into post modern. Basically it is looking at the past but with a twist, looking at them in a differant way. Jean Baudrillard work is often associated with post modernism especially post structureism.
The expreimental stage is when they are trying things and establish them.
The cannon works with them to help and fix the understanding
The Post Modernism looks at what has been done and does a parody of them and takes the michael.
Examples of these videos are;
Homage - Michael Jackson - Smooth Criminal
Pastiche - Will Young - Switch It On
Parody - Backstreet Boys - Everybody

contacting the band
we emailed the band to see if we could use thier music, and to see if they would give us the lyrics to the song so we could start to revise them and look at what we could do for our ideas.

Male Gaze Theory
The Male Gaze Theory was developed by Laura Mulvey in 1975, she belived that herosexual males looked upon HollyWood film actresses as a figure and not a person, just looking at them for pure pleasure. The male gaze thory is not just applied to the Film industry but also to adverts esecially purfume adverts or something that is promoting a product to buy to make yourself look better or smell nicer. Mulvey expressed that women pften like the attention of being gazed at and ogled by men both actors and public. The image above is a typical shot of it, it has Brooklyn Decker comming out of the sea and slow motion, this is from the film 'Just Go With It' this shot totally illistrates the point that Mulvey is making about males gazing at the 1/2 naked indiviual. Below we have a shot from one of my favorite films, 'Grown Ups' where all of the father are looking at Rob's daughter and making it obvious to the audience that she is very attractive, the shot then goes onto her opening the head gasget and hot steam comming out and blowing up her top and her licking her lips, this also illistrates the point that Mulvey makes.

70's,80's,90's and 2010 GroundBrakers
70's
Pink Floyd, the way Pink Floyd changed the videos from being beliveable to being compleate Abstract people counld belive what they were watching, something so unconventioanl that people liked the chaged and now Pink Floyd are very famous.
80's
David Bowie & Mick Jagger - Dancing In The Street, this video approached the side of homosexuality with both of the stars singing to each other, people wernt quite sure what to think of this video but is more accepatable now as we accept more now then we did then.
90's
Eminem - My Name Is, this song was realsed in 1999 and the fact of having a white rapper was new to people and they took to his songs as they could rap along with them, Eminem now do a veriety fo song and has produced many more since 'My Name Is'.
2010
Bad Romance by Ladu GaGa, is another of one Lady GaGas weird and whacky videos, it puts all the elements of surrelaism in all of her videos but this is one of the very unsuual ones. GaGa changes her head gear very rapidly and the fact that they are dancing infornt of people that appear to be judging them could connote a s*xual referance.

The conventions of a Magazine Advert
![]() |
| The main conventions of a magazine advert is that it has the Artist or the band on the front of the magazine or something that portray the band like a photo or emblem so that people buying the magazine know which band is featured in the issue this week or whether they are bringing a new album this could be for promotional reason and so the audience know what they new album cover looks like. As you see Above, Lilly Allen takes the main focus of the issue of the Billboard magazine that specialises in music, as well as being on a particular artist it also looks at what is appening with other Bands and Artisits e.g. Lady GaGa. You can see here that she looks not excited but right for the magazine, and the colours around her are also dull and so this could connote that she is having problems. |

Looking at a Pop promo
There are many genres of pop and also sub genres e.g. Soundtrack, Baroque pop,Operatic pop, Bubblegum pop, Sunshine pop,Christian pop, Dance-pop, Europop, Power pop, Sophisti-pop, Synthpop, Space age pop, Traditional pop and Teen pop.
| If you notice here you can see this typical pop video by Sam and the Womp - Bom Bom Bom, this video follows the typical image of a pop promo, if you look at the attire you can see that it is jazzy and up beat, the earing on the woman are large and she is only wearing one, this is an unconventional theame but it works for a pop vdeo as they are a bit of the chain, you notice that the colours are bright also another typical trait of the piop genre, with the pop genre you expect to see bright colours and unusual dancing and also parts that dont make compleate sense but because they are in a pop video it is acceptable. You notice the make up is not something that you would wear on a night out but it is groovy and that is also why it fits into the pop genre and also fits in with the Mis-En-Scene. With the editing it is mainly Jump cuts used in Music vides to have a fast and easy transisition to the next slide, althought disoves and fasde are also commonly used, with pop videos the camera shots are up close to show happy and up-beat facial emotions, the main audience for a pop video is Teenagers as they are the most likely to listen the that Genre. |

What is a DigiPak
A digiPak is made with paper and cardboard and folds out so you can add a small booklet in some cases, they are also able to hold more than 1 dvd or cd thsi could be an extended version or a directors comentary, the DigiPak was the first alternative to the jewel case with was also used by large companys that produced the records. The pros of a DigiPak are that; they dont crack, they are cheap to produce in bulk they are also good for showimng graphics and art, there is more visual and information a disposal for the custome. The cons are tat they can tear the foam holder of the cd can fall off and the cd can fall out and they can look ragged and worn quite quickly.
